True Stories, Not Fables

Short, sharp vignettes about parents and children, friends and strangers, burnout and becoming. No magic. No monsters. Just people.

Voicemail notification

A voicemail becomes an inheritance.

What someone leaves unsaid can echo louder than anything they ever recorded.

Handwritten sticky note

A sticky note becomes an apology.

Sometimes "I was wrong" arrives in handwriting instead of a conversation.

Unanswered messages

A missed text becomes closure.

Silence hurts, then clarifies. Either way, it answers the question.

The Series

Three volumes of raw, reflective, and deeply human stories. Each story ends with a truth—sometimes gentle, sometimes gutting.

Book 1

The Antonym of Fable: True Story

Anthology

In this emotionally resonant collection of micro-stories, The Antonym of Fable strips away the myths we tell ourselves and each other—about success, family, friendship, and healing—and replaces them with something far more powerful: the truth.

Book 2

The Antonym of Fable: True Story

Book Two

In this powerful follow-up to his acclaimed debut, Lucas Locke returns with a second volume of raw, reflective, and deeply human stories. Each story is inspired by real experiences and ends with a poignant reflection—"The Truth."

Book 3

The Antonym of Fable: True Story

Book Three

A collection of short, emotionally resonant vignettes that explore the quiet, often overlooked moments of real life. Each story is told in a conversational, dialogue-rich style, capturing the raw honesty of human experience.

About the Author

Lucas Locke is an IT professional with a background in sociology and psychology, blending analytical thinking with a deep curiosity about human behavior. A Colorado native, he finds his greatest inspiration outdoors—especially while hiking the trails of Rocky Mountain National Park, tending his garden, or swimming under open skies.

When he's not working in tech, Lucas is chasing his dream of becoming a full-time writer, hoping to one day trade the corporate grind for a life fueled by creativity and nature.
